Weekend getaway

We're going to try this again. For years in the past I had blogged about lots of things happening in my life. Sometimes I shared too much. Sometimes I was super vague and no one could figure out what I was saying. Maybe that's why people stayed around? Because I made them feel better about themselves based on my lack of ability to bring my thoughts down to earth?

Anyway, I have discovered something wonderful. This vast thing we call life. I have these people who I will call friends and these other people that I will call family. I learn stuff from them all the time and honestly they make my life super enjoyable. That's what life is about, right? The family category includes people that I know and really like. They don't have to be blood. The friends category includes everyone else. Really. Except maybe the people that scare me and I don't really want to be around them. They are still people too! I recognize that!

So starting with this past weekend, let me tell you about some of my adventures. I currently attend school in eastern Idaho and am dating a boy from Utah. He has brought me down to meet his family twice and I'm really already in love with them. Don't tell them though. It might freak them out. Made the drive down on Friday evening with a car full of boys and tried to make record time in order to attend a wedding reception of a couple friends from the mission. It was pretty funny because Josh's phone died, we lacked a GPS, and were in a Utah town that neither of us had ever set foot in. Thank goodness for the grid system, yeah? Before finding this quaint little get together I had to stop at Taco Bell. Not for the usual bean burrito but so I didn't embarrass myself from losing control of my bladder. As we pull out Josh decides it's a good idea to strip and change his shirt as I drive. Don't worry, everyone passing by can see you. As I turn my head to look in my mirror he exclaims, "Don't look!!!" Sorry!!

After arriving at our destination, we visit his neighbors at 11 something at night. I'm exhausted but I'm a good sport because it's important to be supportive and plus I want to meet the people in his life. Made a connection with a girl at the party over my home state and through an awkward commandment hugged one of his best friends. It was great.

Whether it was a session in the temple, becoming aware of my out-of-shape body ice blocking for the first time in my life, and watching an incredible family take photos together for the last time for almost 2 years, I really enjoyed myself. I feel like Josh and I have a lot of moments. Whether they are sentimental or really just ridiculous, I have so much fun. I really hope to be able to capture even just a few of the moments that happen in my life on the rest of this blog. Challenge accepted!
